Modelling Clay and Decorating Slips

When working with clay and clay slips it is good practice to observe the following rules:

1. Do not eat, drink or smoke in the working area.

2. Avoid generating airborne dust as this is bad for your lungs.

Clean up spills when they occur because when clay and clay slips dry and become powder they can be a source of dust as well as being a slip hazard if on the floor.

Do not sweep the floor as this creates airborne dust, instead wipe and mop.

Wear an apron and wipe or wash it regularly

If sanding or fettling dry or biscuit fired pots wear a respirator and goggles
